Turner and Globo have become the latest media companies to distance themselves from Sportflix ahead of the launch of the OTT streaming platform on August 30.
Turner told TTVnews that the company has no relationship with Sportflix and are not in talks with the platform, which has promised to offer coverage of hundreds of sporting events in Latin America.
Globo said that it has not had “any contact or negotiations with Sportflix” that would enable them to show coverage of events such as football's Fifa World Cup or the Olympic Games.
“Like other media groups, we are concerned about Sportflix announcing that they will transmit those events… through a subscription but without having authorisation,” Globo added.
Earlier this month international sports broadcasters ESPN and Fox Sports Latin America said that they had not engaged with Sportflix.
