Toyota backs Canadian Olympic, Paralympic Committees

Japanese automotive manufacturer Toyota has agreed sponsorship deals with the Canadian Olympic Committee and the Canadian Paralympic Committee.

Toyota Canada will serve as official partners of both organisations for the next eight years. The agreement commences with the 2018 winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in Pyeongchang, Korea.

Toyota will also be the official mobility partner of Team Canada until 2024, when the summer Games will be held in Paris.

Toyota is marking the partnership with the launch of a global marketing campaign featuring the inspirational stories of 10 Canadian athletes.

“Toyota believes in promoting the Olympic Movement and its values in Canada,” Chris Overholt, chief executive and secretary general of the Canadian Olympic Committee, said. “Our goal over the next eight years is to build programs that not only benefit our athletes training to go to Games but to also inspire the next generation in our communities. We look forward to celebrating this partnership at Pyeongchang 2018 in less than 100 days.”

Toyota holds partnerships with a host of national Olympic committees, and earlier this year agreed sponsorship deals with Canada Basketball, Canada Soccer, Freestyle Canada and Wheelchair Basketball Canada. Toyota is also the mobility sponsor of the Olympics and Paralympics.
