Torneos to market Fiba rights in Latin and South America

The International Basketball Federation (Fiba) has appointed the Torneos agency to distribute its broadcast rights in Latin and South America from 2017 to 2025.

The partnership involves the distribution of linear broadcast rights for all of Fiba’s major national team competitions during the period.

This includes the 2019 and 2023 World Cups and their qualifiers; the 2017, 2021 and 2025 AmeriCups and their qualifiers; the 2018 and 2022 Women’s World Cups, all other Fiba continental cups and the U17 and U19 World Cups.

On behalf of Fiba, Torneos will seek out broadcast deals in the following countries and territories: Anguilla, Antigua, Argentina, Aruba, Barbados, Belize, Bolivia, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Grenada, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Monserrat, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, St Kitts & Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent & the Grenadines, Surinam, Turks & Caicos Islands, Trinidad & Tobago, Uruguay and Venezuela.

Additionally, Torneos will partner with Fiba to provide the local production facilities required for each national team’s games in the Americas during the qualifiers, with the exception of Brazil, Canada and the USA.

Santiago Sluzewski Monti, rights director at Torneos, said: “Our main goal is to work jointly with Fiba to reach every basketball fan in the region and promote Fiba events across the Americas.”

The agreement was brokered by Fiba Media, the strategic partnership between Fiba and digital sports media company Perform, which continues to secure multi-year agreements related to the world governing body’s new calendar of events.
