South African online sportsbook World Sports Betting has secured a partnership with domestic Super Rugby team the Lions, through which it will become a kit sponsor of the rugby union club.
The deal will run for three years, with WSB branding to appear on the players’ shorts in all tournaments.
The company will also serve as the official sports betting partner of the Lions.
Warren Tannous, chief executive of WSB, said: “Growing up in a family who supported the franchise for as long as I can recall saw us take the decision to partner with the Lions without hesitation. In fact, it is something I have been looking to do for several years.
“Today, rugby is a big part of our business and product offering. We offer hundreds of live in-play and pre-match markets on all local and international rugby and for me, seeing our brand associated with a worldwide franchise such as the Lions is an absolute honour.”
WSB has similar commercial partnerships in place with a number of other sports organisations in South Africa, including cricket franchise the Cape Cobras. WSB serves as title sponsor of the Cobras.
