Ssangyong to drive digital development for PyeongChang 2018

The PyeongChang Organising Committee for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic winter Games (POCOG) has signed information and operation services company Ssangyong as a tier-two commercial partner.

The company has been named an official domestic sponsor of the Games in the website services category. Ssangyong will be responsible for developing and operating POCOG’s official websites in the build up to, and during, the Games.

As a tier-two sponsor, the company will be granted the use of the Games emblem in promotional activities, as well as product category exclusivity.

POCOG secretary general Yeo Hyungkoo said: “They (Ssangyong) have a solid reputation as a Korean sports system integration company that has accumulated experience developing websites and operational systems for international mega sporting events. We believe Ssangyong’s know-how will help us deliver successful Olympic and Paralympic winter Games.”

Ssangyong has in the past worked on such events as the Asian Games in Seoul in 1986 and football’s Fifa World Cup, which was staged in South Korea and Japan in 2002.
