Sony Six takes Cup of Nations to India

Indian sports and entertainment pay-television channel Sony Six has secured live rights to the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations national team football tournament across multiple south Asian markets.

The biannual tournament runs from January 17 to February 8 in Equatorial Guinea and the agreement with Sony Six means it will be shown live in India for the first time.

Sony Six business head Prasana Krishnan said: “This reinforces our position as the home for the top international football tournaments. Furthermore, most of the matches from the tournament are going to be telecast here at prime time, which will boost its viewership in our region.”

Reigning champion Nigeria failed to qualify for the 2015 tournament and the bid to replace them as Africa’s leading football nation begins when the hosts take on Congo at Estadio de Bata on Saturday.
