Sky follows PDC deal with Matchroom extension

UK sports promotional company Matchroom Sport has signed a new seven-year rights deal with pay-television broadcaster Sky.

The deal will run until 2025, taking the two parties’ association into a fourth decade.

Sky will continue to broadcast Matchroom Sport events across eight different sports. The deal includes continued exclusive live coverage of events such as pool’s Mosconi Cup, Fish’O’Mania and tenpin bowling’s Weber Cup.

Other events covered by the deal include the World Cup of Pool, World Pool Masters, PGA EuroPro Tour golf highlights, the World Championship of Ping Pong and British netball, basketball and gymnastics competitions.

Matchroom Sport is a promoter of the Professional Darts Corporation and World Snooker, and also holds partnerships with leading British boxers such as Anthony Joshua, Tony Bellew and Kell Brook.

The new deal with Matchroom comes after Sky last month signed an extended seven-year rights deal with the PDC. The deal runs until 2025 and covers the World Darts Championship, the sport's Premier League and the World Matchplay competition. The broadcaster will also show the World Grand Prix, Grand Slam of Darts and World Cup of Darts.
