Skoda extends partnership with Tour of Britain

Czech automotive manufacturer Skoda has agreed to extend its partnership with the Tour of Britain cycling event.

Terms of the multi-year deal were not disclosed, but it was confirmed that the agreement will cover both the men’s and women’s races in 2017.

The company’s Skoda UK division will now own the Mountains Classifications on both Tours, having agreed to become lead sponsor of the Women’s Tour’s ‘Queen of the Mountains Classification’.

Skoda, which already sponsors the ‘King of the Mountains Classification’ on the Men’s Tour, will also continue as the official car partner of both Tours.

Skoda began its support of the Men’s Tour in 2011, before extending this to the Women’s Tour in 2014.

Kirsten Stagg, head of marketing for Skoda UK, said: “Skoda started life as a bicycle company in 1895 and being the official partner of the King and now Queen of the Mountains helps us to continually honour that heritage. It also provides the perfect platform for bringing our cycling season to life alongside our new brand ambassador, Sir Bradley Wiggins.”
