Ski Classics secures rights partners in France, UK and Mena

The Ski Classics series of long-distance skiing events has agreed new broadcast deals in France, the UK and the Middle East and North Africa region for the remainder of its 2017-18 season.

French digital-terrestrial television channel L’Équipe will cover the series, along with FreeSports, a new free-to-air digital channel that launched in the UK in August.

Pay-television broadcaster beIN Sports will offer Ski Classics a platform across 24 countries in the Mena region.

David Nilsson, chief executive of Ski Classics, said: “France is a main ski market with great potential for us. Reaching out through one of their major sports channels, L'Équipe, will be exciting.

“In addition, the tour also continuously grows outside of the ‘key’ markets for our sport. This illustrates that the TV product, combining professional sport with beautiful landscape images from all around winter Europe, fills up a need.”

The 2017-18 Ski Classics season will resume with its third event in Seefeld, Austria on January 13.
