Commercial broadcaster Servus TV has extended its MotoGP rights deal in Austria and has become the new home of the motorcycling championship in Germany.
The new five-season agreement, covering the 2019 to 2023 campaigns, has been struck with MotoGP’s commercial rights-holder, Dorna Sports, and will provide fans across both German-speaking nations with MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 action live and free-to-air in HD.
In addition, the MotoGP Rookies Cup and new MotoE World Cup will also form part of the television, online, live streaming and mobile package.
MotoGP moves to Servus TV in Germany after international sports broadcaster Eurosport held the rights from 2015 to 2018.
“After three years doing an impeccable job in Austria, ServusTV are now set to become an unbeatable partner in Germany as well,” Manel Arroyo, managing director of Dorna Sports, said.
“This broadcaster, thanks to their commitment from the first minute, clearly understands the philosophy of our sport and how to expand it amongst our fan base as well as how to bring new fans on board. Without doubt, we couldn’t be happier about this new alliance.”
MotoGP’s annual Austrian Grand Prix took place at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg at the weekend, while the German GP at the Sachsenring was held last month.
