Scottish Rugby extends with beer partner

The Scottish Rugby national governing body has renewed its partnership with Tennent’s Lager.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed but Scottish Rugby said that a “significant multi-year, seven-figure contract extension” has been signed.

The agreement covers the Scottish national team, as well as the Edinburgh and Glasgow Warriors Pro14 club sides. Tennent’s will also title sponsor the Scottish Premiership and National Leagues from the coming season, with the company to take on a similar role with the newly-formed Scottish Championship from 2019-20.

As a sponsor of the Scottish national team, Tennent’s will support future Six Nations campaigns, Autumn Test matches and next year’s Rugby World Cup in Japan.

Tennent’s will also continue to offer the Tennent’s Up & Under Bar at Murrayfield, along with the Best Seat in the House pitch-side seat competition. Tennent’s will retain pouring rights at Murrayfield, Scotstoun and, subject to planning permission, Edinburgh’s new home ground.

Scottish Rugby’s head of marketing and sponsorship, Toni Blackhurst, said: “We’ve already worked together to create the Tennent’s Lager Up & Under bar at BT Murrayfield which welcomes hundreds of fans every match day and has provided the stadium with a permanent sports bar for events throughout the year.

“There are also some exciting plans for the future – from working together to expand the global reach of two synonymous Scottish brands to Tennent’s offering support for rugby clubs across the country through sponsorship of the domestic leagues. As Scottish Rugby continues to progress we look forward to working with Tennent’s over the coming years.”
