SBS picks up FTA rights to Australia’s Autumn International games

Australian public-service broadcaster SBS has secured exclusive free-to-air rights to two of Australia’s matches in the 2016 Autumn Internationals rugby union series.

SBS will broadcast live coverage of Australia’s clash against France on November 20, as well as the game with England on December 4.

Coverage will be broadcast live on the SBS television channel and also streamed online via the SBS On Demand service.

There had been fears that the two matches might not be available on Australian television channels after free-to-air broadcasters initially opted against showing the games.

However, pay-television broadcaster beIN Sports last week expanded an initial deal that only covered matches against Wales, Scotland and Ireland to include the France and England games. SBS will now provide additional coverage of the latter two matches.
