Sauber scores sponsorship hat-trick

Formula One motor-racing team Sauber has signed premium partnerships with eyewear brand Carrera and luxury watchmaker Richard Mille, while it has also agreed a sponsorship deal with Italian sportswear manufacturer Kappa.

Carrera’s multi-year deal with Sauber will grant it brand exposure on the monocoques of the team’s cars, as well as on drivers’ race helmets and overalls.

Carrera will also supply the team and drivers with sunglasses and optical frames.

Richard Mille will also receive advertising space on the monocoques of Sauber’s cars, team gear and driver overalls. Its partnership will cover the 2018 F1 season, which gets underway in Melbourne, Australia next month.

Kappa, meanwhile, has signed on as an official partner of the team. The length of the deal was not disclosed but it will at least cover the 2018 season.

Kappa will provide the race team and drivers with official team gear. It will also receive branding space on the headrest of Sauber’s cars and the race overalls of the team’s two drivers, Marcus Ericsson and Charles Leclerc.

Sauber today (Tuesday) unveiled its new car for the 2018 season, complete with a substantially altered livery. The change comes after it was announced in November that Italian automotive marque Alfa Romeo would return to Formula One for the first time in over three decades after agreeing a multi-year partnership with Sauber.

The technical and commercial partnership sees Alfa Romeo join the Swiss team as its title sponsor from the 2018 season.
