Samsung signs VR-focused partnership with MLB

Consumer electronics company Samsung has partnered with North America’s Major League Baseball to provide fans with a virtual reality offering for the remainder of the 2017 season.

The new VR experience will provide immersive access to players, ballparks and key moments from the season.

The multinational partnership will allow MLB fans in Canada, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, Taiwan and the United States to view over 20 immersive videos exclusively on the Samsung VR app.

Content will bring fans face-to-face with MLB players and provide views of some of the league’s ballparks. Content will also be launched around the league’s All-Star events and the American League and National League Championship Series, leading up to the World Series.

Other content will include interactive elements such as player stats, fun facts, and stills and video to further elevate the fan experience. The content will be captured by Samsung’s Gear 360 cameras.

Users can access the Samsung VR app while wearing the Samsung VR powered by Oculus headset. Alternatively, fans can browse and stream the 360-degree content on Samsung Galaxy smartphones via the mobile app or online at SamsungVR.com.
