São Paulo set for Adidas kit deal

Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A football club São Paulo has agreed a deal in principal for German sportswear company Adidas to become its new kit supplier.

In a brief statement on its website, São Paulo confirmed that it had approved a proposal from Adidas to provide the team’s kit.

The club added that the agreement, terms of which were undisclosed, will now be studied by its board of directors before being formalised.

Adidas would replace US sportswear brand Under Armour as the club’s kit supplier. Under Armour agreed a multi-year deal with the club in March 2015.

The Maquina do Esporte website reported that São Paulo has opted to end its partnership with Under Armour after the company sought to change the terms of the agreed deal amid financial difficulties.

Maquina do Esporte added that Brazilian sportswear brand Topper had expressed an interest in supplying São Paulo’s kit, but Adidas appears to have won out. Adidas previously partnered with São Paulo in the mid-1990s.
