Rutgers marks Big Ten switch with sponsor deals

The athletics division of Rutgers University has agreed five-year sponsorship deals with Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and health insurance provider AmeriHealth New Jersey to mark the US college’s move into the Big Ten Conference.

The NJ.com website said that the deals, brokered by Rutgers’ marketing partner IMG College, are worth more than $5m (€3.7m).

The agreements provide the two companies with naming rights at the main High Point Solutions Stadium gate, as well as other promotional benefits such as signage and exclusive access inside the Rutgers athletics facilities.

“As kickoff approaches, there is tremendous enthusiasm building for Rutgers athletics, and the IMG team has closed more than two dozen partnership agreements, including two of most significant in Rutgers history with Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and AmeriHealth,” Andrew Giangola, a spokesman at IMG College, said. “As Rutgers continues to invest in athletics, and competes in the Big Ten, the university will continue to be an even more important part of IMG's national collegiate platform.”
