Russian Premier League president Sergey Pryadkin has said talks are being held with privately-held broadcaster Match TV over a three-season extension to its rights deal for the top division of domestic football.
The 2017-18 campaign commenced in July with the Premier League entering the final season of its current rights deal with Match TV.
In May, Pryadkin said negotiations had commenced with Match TV over an extension, but added that the organisation was open to other offers.
“We have a very close working relationship with Match TV,” Pryadkin told state news agency Tass yesterday (Thursday). “After each round, we exchange views on the matches, expressing our wishes. We are now at the negotiating stage of a new contract that we want to conclude again for three years.”
Pryadkin said clarity in the negotiations is expected to come by the end of November, adding: “We would like to receive more (money under a new agreement), but this is a negotiation process.”
In September 2015, the Premier League signed a three-season deal with pay-television broadcaster NTV Plus, which also acquired international rights for the 2015-16 to 2017-18 campaigns. The NTV Plus channels have since fallen under the Match TV banner and have been rebranded.
