Roma targets Egyptian market with tourism partner

Italian Serie A football club AS Roma has agreed a sponsorship deal with the Egyptian Tourist Organisation.

The body will serve as Roma’s official tourism partner for the remainder of the 2017-18 season.

As part of the agreement, the ETO’s branding will feature on LED advertising boards at Roma’s Stadio Olimpico home ground on match days, and across the club’s digital and social media platforms.

Roma will also promote Egypt and its tourist activities, and organise shared marketing initiatives with the ETO.

ETO director Emad Fathy Abdalla said: “The decision to partner with the Giallorossi is linked to the significance of Rome as a crucial location in the flow of tourists towards Egypt, with Italian tour operators and Egyptian airlines recently deciding to increase the number of flights from Fiumicino airport to Cairo and Sharm El Sheikh.

“The partnership is made all the stronger by presence in the squad of Stephan El Shaarawy (pictured), an Italian winger of Egyptian origins with the nickname Il Faraone ('The Pharaoh'), and by the huge interest that AS Roma generates in Egypt, where there is an ever-increasing number of Giallorossi fans.”
