Port Adelaide builds up ties with Chinese business

AFL Aussie rules football club Port Adelaide has extended its partnership with property development company Greaton, through which the Haneco Lighting firm will sponsor the team’s polo shirts.

Greaton’s new two-year deal will cover the 2018 and 2019 AFL seasons. Haneco Lighting’s branding will feature on the sleeves of Port Adelaide’s shirts as part of the agreement.

Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but Adelaide-based newspaper The Advertiser said that a six-figure deal has been signed.

Greaton first partnered with Port Adelaide in April. The company’s managing director is Chinese-born, Adelaide-based businessman Nicho Teng.

Port Adelaide played a game against the Gold Coast Suns in Shanghai in May and the two teams will return to the Chinese city for another regular-season fixture next year.

Greaton is a member of the China Power Club, Port Adelaide’s premier networking and business engagement platform.

The club’s chief executive Keith Thomas said: “We are very excited that Greaton has continued their support of Port Adelaide and we see their decision as being an outstanding vote of confidence in what we are trying to achieve through our China Engagement Strategy.

“Equally, we see Greaton and their investment in the local economy as being very important to South Australia’s future.”
