The Open partners with Hugo Boss

German fashion house Hugo Boss has agreed a deal to sponsor golf’s Open Championship.

Hugo Boss will serve as the official outfitter of the event, which this year takes place at Royal Birkdale near Liverpool, England from July 16-23. The partnership will run for five years, culminating in the 2021 event.

The company will provide clothing for all officials and staff members during the event, and will also benefit from a pop-up store in the official merchandise pavilion.

Hugo Boss will produce a special capsule of Open leisure wear as part of the agreement. The range is available to purchase from this week via TheOpen.com/shop and hugoboss.com, as well as at the championship itself and at select Hugo Boss stores in the UK.

To mark the partnership, the first 25 customers to spend more than £150 (€171/$191) on items from the range will be granted an 18th pin flag signed by Hugo Boss endorsement partner and defending Open champion Henrik Stenson (pictured).

Martin Slumbers, chief executive of The R&A, operator of The Open, said: “Hugo Boss is a global brand with a reputation for excellence in sport and golf in particular. This is a long-term partnership which will enable us to provide a truly world-class apparel offering to fans of The Open around the world.”
