O2 TV swoops for exclusive Czech, Slovak Champions League rights

Pay-television broadcaster O2 TV has acquired exclusive rights to the Uefa Champions League club football competition in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

O2 has secured the rights across the three seasons spanning 2018-19 to 2020-21. The deal also includes the annual Super Cup clash between the winners of the Champions League and Europa League.

O2 currently shares rights to the Champions League in the Czech Republic with public-service broadcaster Česká Televize.

Rights in Slovakia are currently held by public-service broadcaster RTVS and telco Slovak Telekom.

Guy-Laurent Epstein, Uefa director of marketing, said: "O2 TV has been a key partner on the Czech market for the past three seasons for the Uefa Champions League, which is why we are very pleased to extend our cooperation to all the matches and to the Slovak market until 2021."
