NENT Group continues rights drive with football deals

Swedish media company Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group) has acquired exclusive rights in the Nordic region to football’s German Bundesliga, French Ligue 1, Dutch Eredivisie, Belgian First Division A and Scottish Premiership, along with the Copa América national team tournament.

NENT, formerly known as Modern Times Group, has secured rights to the top-tier leagues until 2021. Its deal for the Copa América covers the 2019 edition of the tournament, which will be held in Brazil.

NENT will show up to 1,500 live games per season from across the five leagues on its television channels and streaming services.

The deals come after NENT last week extended an agreement for football’s English Premier League in a deal that covers the 2019-20 to 2021-22 seasons. The company also last week sealed new deals for the Formula One motor-racing championship until 2021, the International Handball Federation’s World Championship until 2025 and the European Handball Federation’s European Championship until 2026.

NENT Group also extended its rights to the EHF Champions League, European Handball League and the EHF Cup until 2023.
