NEC Corporation, Fujitsu join expanding Tokyo 2020 gold partner programme

IT solutions providers NEC Corporation and Fujitsu have been signed up as the latest gold partners of the Tokyo 2020 summer Olympic and Paralympic Games.

NEC has secured exclusivity in the network equipment and specialist public safety equipment and software categories.

Fujitsu has become a partner in the data centre hardware category.

The organising committee for the Games has now unveiled three gold partners in the space of two days, following photography services provider Canon yesterday. Telecommunications company NTT was the first gold partner to be recruited in January, swiftly followed by Asahi Breweries.

“As the data centre hardware partner, Fujitsu will contribute to the success of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games as part of the wider integrated Tokyo 2020 Games technology solution designed and managed by worldwide Olympic partner Atos,” Masami Yamamoto, president and representative director of Fujitsu, said.

NEC president Dr Nobuhiro Endo said: “We are fully committed to orchestrating numerous innovations to help people enjoy Tokyo 2020.”
