Mitsubishi Estate adds Australia Tests to rugby portfolio

Japanese real estate developer Mitsubishi Estate has agreed a deal with Rugby Australia to take on naming rights to its men’s national team’s home Tests in 2018 and 2019.

The deal strengthens Mitsubishi Estate’s rugby portfolio, with the company already holding naming rights to the Super Rugby competition in Japan. Last month it also agreed a deal to sponsor the 2019 Rugby World Cup, which will be held in Japan.

Its deal with Rugby Australia will mark the first time since 2014 that an Australian June Series has had a naming-rights sponsor. The company will also become the official real estate developer of Rugby Australia for the next two years.

Rugby Australia chief executive Raelene Castle said: “The Mitsubishi Estate Group has recently expanded its operations into the Australian market, partnering on the development of some of the largest residential buildings in the country.

“Mitsubishi Estate has aligned with rugby through a shared set of values and we are delighted that they have chosen to partner with Australian rugby and the Wallabies on top of their recently-announced partnerships with Super Rugby and Rugby World Cup 2019.”

Australia takes on Ireland in its June Series, which gets underway on June 9 at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.
