Milan Review Tribunal thwarts prosecutor plans

The Milan prosecutor’s office has had a request to arrest two former senior executives at the Infront Sports & Media agency dismissed by the Milan Review Tribunal.

The Milan prosecutors’ office had requested that Marco Bogarelli and Giuseppe Ciocchetti be arrested on a charge of criminal conspiracy following an investigation into a 2015 tender for the rights to Serie A, the top division of football in Italy.

The request was dismissed earlier this year, but an appeal was launched against the decision.

That appeal has now been rejected.

The tribunal said that the “disintegration of the hypothetical accusations” had curtailed “any consideration that a criminal association existed.”

The rights cycle covered the three-year period from 2015-16 to 2017-18.
