The Namibian Broadcasting Corporation has launched a new sports channel in partnership with Kwesé Sports, which is operated by the Econet Media telecommunications company.
Nbc6, which has launched alongside music-dedicated channel Nbc5, will receive its feed from Kwesé Free Sports, which offers live free-to-air coverage of properties such as football’s English Premier League and Spanish Copa del Rey, the NBA basketball league and the NFL American football league.
The channel, which will also broadcast football’s 2017 Fifa Confederations Cup and 2018 Fifa World Cup, will additionally show African sports properties.
Last month Kwesé Sports sublicensed on to the Nbc coverage of two boxing events – Ricky Burns v Julius Indongo on April 15 and Anthony Joshua v Wladimir Klitschko on April 29.
Kwesé Free Sports’ feed is now available in 25 markets across Africa.
