Jamaica Football Federation signs Umbro kit deal

The Jamaica Football Federation has agreed a kit partnership with UK sportswear company Umbro.

According to the Jamaica Observer newspaper, the four-year deal will run from 2018 to 2022 and will be worth $4m (€3.4m).

The deal covers Jamaica’s men’s and women’s teams. The agreement will include the men’s team’s qualification campaign for the 2022 Fifa World Cup in Qatar.

The deal will also provide benefits for players in the Jamaican Premier League, the top tier of club football in the country. “One player from each Premier League club is to be sponsored by Umbro,” JFF president Michael Ricketts said, according to the Observer.

Ricketts added that the agreement could include “incremental increases annually” as part of a performance-based scheme.

Umbro will replace UAE-based sportswear manufacturer Romai Sports as Jamaica’s kit supplier. Romai had signed a four-year deal in 2015, but this contract was recently terminated by mutual agreement.
