ITTF secures Chinese title sponsor for Women’s World Cup

Chinese food products manufacturer Uncle Pop has been unveiled as the title sponsor of the 2017 edition of the International Table Tennis Federation’s (ITTF) Women’s World Cup, which will take place in Markham, Canada.

Uncle Pop agreed the deal with the ITTF and the Table Tennis Canada national governing body.

The event will run from October 27-29 and will officially be known as the Uncle Pop 2017 ITTF Women’s World Cup.

TTC chief executive Tony Kiesenhofer said: “We had a number of interests for the title sponsorship, but we chose Uncle Pop as the company’s plans to expand into North America while strengthening its base in Asia aligns with our plans for hosting high level international events in Canada. We can provide programming that is of interest to viewers in North America and in Asia, and this results in large TV audiences and great brand exposure for our sponsors.”

Uncle Pop chairman Yang Xiaoyong said he hopes the deal would lead to a “long-term partnership” in the future.

Miu Harano of Japan is the defending World Cup champion, having won last year’s event in the US city of Philadelphia.
