ISU set for defeat in EU competition case - report

The European Commission (EC) is reportedly set to rule against the International Skating Union (ISU) in a long-running case surrounding the competition rights of athletes which could have significant implications for sport as a whole.

The Reuters news agency, citing two sources familiar with the matter, said the European Union’s (EU’s) competition regulator is likely to order the ISU to amend its regulations, which currently allow for lifetime bans for athletes who compete in events that are not authorised by the world governing body.
