INF takes mobile-first approach for Youth World Cup

Games from this year’s Netball Youth World Cup will be streamed live on social media platforms Facebook and Twitter as part of an agreement between the International Netball Federation and Botswanan online portal Tsena.

The tournament got underway in Gaborone, Botswana on July 8 and runs until July 16. Each game will be available via catch-up through the INF’s official page on video-sharing website YouTube.

Live and featured content will also be made available via the tournament’s official pages on Twitter and Facebook. Each of the 20 participating nations will also have the chance to live-stream their matches on their own Facebook and Twitter feeds and use real-time in-play clips.

The INF’s partnership with Tsena is being supported by Botswana TV and UK-based digital media specialist QTV Sports.

The INF said the initiative marks the first time it has taken a "mobile-first" approach to a global tournament.

The tournament marks the INF’s first Youth World Cup, following seven World Youth Championships since 1988. It also marks the first international INF event to take place in Africa.
