Gloucester extends with main sponsor Mitsubishi

Mitsubishi Motors, the automotive manufacturing arm of Japan’s Mitsubishi Group, has extended its shirt sponsorship deal with English Premiership rugby union club Gloucester.

Under the new long-term agreement, Mitsubishi’s branding will continue to feature on the front of the club’s shirts.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Gloucester chairman and owner Martin St Quinton told Gloucestershire Live that it represents a “significant increase” on the previous agreement, with the news website adding that it is one of the most lucrative deals in the Premiership.

St Quinton said: “We love working with Mitsubishi, they’re a great national and international brand and to have them extend their contract by another three years from 2018 onwards is just fantastic so we couldn’t be happier.

“Some of the teams do have sponsorship from companies that the owners are involved with so those are difficult to quantify but this is a standalone piece of sponsorship and it’s a very lucrative deal and I hope it suits both parties.

“It’s a significant increase on the current contract and it’s a very important part of our overall sponsorship.”

Mitsubishi first partnered with Gloucester in 2005 and has served as the club’s main sponsor since 2015.

As part of the new deal, the company’s logo will also continue to appear on the team’s training shirts and around Kingsholm Stadium.
