Global OTT platform launched for Swedish speedway league

Stockholm-based agency Spring Media has launched a new OTT channel to provide coverage of Swedish speedway events on a global basis.

Speedway Play will allow fans to watch all 66 matches from the Elite Series Sweden, the top tier of domestic speedway. Interviews, highlights and news will also be provided through the service.

The channel will be available via www.speedwayplay.com and as an app on Android, iOS and Apple TV devices. Events will be produced in high definition with graphics, replays and Swedish commentary.

Events will be available either through pay-per-view or via a monthly subscription. Registration will be free until April 30. Thereafter, a monthly subscription will cost €13.99 ($17.30) and day passes will be priced at €8.99.

Spring Media in October agreed a deal to distribute the media rights of the ESS on an exclusive basis in a deal that runs from 2018 to 2022, covering domestic and international rights across all platforms.

The ESS, which is one of the strongest speedway leagues in the world, attracts the third-highest attendance of all sports leagues in Sweden, after football’s Allsvenskan and the SHL men’s ice hockey competition.
