UK free-to-air digital channel FreeSports is to launch a new boxing series entitled FreeSports Fight Night.
The series launches tomorrow (Friday) with an event at the Ponds Forge Arena in Sheffield, which will feature the middleweight fight between Sam Sheedy (right of picture) and Liam Cameron.
The annual series will comprise 12 fight nights organised by a range of promoters. Tomorrow’s fight night will be a Dennis Hobson-promoted event. Mark Prior, founder of Warriors Boxing and Management, was also involved in the deal with FreeSports.
Hobson said, according to the Hit Hard News website: “I’ve been involved in boxing for years and it’s the most exciting sport there is, but for too long it’s been hidden away on subscription channels, with a limited audience. This new deal puts boxing back where it belongs, and anyone with a TV will be able to watch the shows.”
FreeSports launched last month and is available on the BT, Freesat, Freeview, Sky and TalkTalk subscription platforms.
