Pay-television broadcaster Fox Sports has widened its coverage of US sports in Italy by acquiring rights to National Collegiate Athletic Association basketball and American football.
The length of the deal was not disclosed, but Fox Sports will commence its coverage immediately with at least two American football games per week, followed up by equivalent basketball coverage when the 2017-18 season commences in mid-November.
Fox Sports will broadcast college football’s key bowl games, as well as the National Championship. It will also televise the March Madness basketball event. Fox Sports’ first game under the deal was yesterday’s (Thursday’s) Big 12 clash which saw the Texas Longhorns defeat the Iowa State Cyclones 17-7.
Fox Sports also holds rights in Italy to the NFL American football league, NHL ice hockey league and Major League Baseball.
