FIH secures multiple rights deals

The FIH, the global governing body of hockey, has agreed rights deals with a number of broadcasters in various regions around the world.

ESPN Player, the digital service operated by international sports broadcaster ESPN, will stream over 350 hours of live and on-demand coverage of various FIH events to audiences in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

The ESPN Player service will be available in more than 50 European countries, including France, Italy, Norway, Portugal and Spain.

ESPN Player will stream coverage of more than 130 games from the Hockey World League semi-finals, as well as 44 matches from the men’s and women’s Hockey World League finals. The FIH said it will also work with ESPN to explore opportunities for additional coverage of its competitions.

Meanwhile, the CBC Sports division of Canadian public-service broadcaster CBC will stream live coverage of all games during the upcoming Hockey World League semi-finals in London, England, which began today (Thursday).

Over 65 hours of free-to-view coverage will be available on the CBCsports.ca website and via the CBC Sports mobile application.

Elsewhere, Japanese commercial broadcaster TV Tokyo will show all matches featuring the country’s national men’s and women’s teams at the Hockey World League semi-finals in Johannesburg, South Africa.

In addition, Polish public-service broadcaster TVP will show all of the country’s national women’s team matches at the Hockey World League semi-finals, while the International Olympic Committee’s Olympic Channel will stream live coverage of all matches at the upcoming Hockey World League semi-finals.
