Farmers Insurance extends sponsorship of PGA Tour event

Automobile, home and small business insurers Farmers Insurance has agreed to continue as title sponsor of PGA Tour golf event the Farmers Insurance Open.

The new deal will run for seven years, through to the 2026 edition of the tournament, which is part of the Tour’s ‘West Coast Swing’.

Farmers Insurance initially came in to sponsor the 2010 tournament just 10 days before the opening round and just months after coming into the San Diego community in response to devastating wildfires.

Nearly a decade later, disaster resilience continues to be a core component of the business and community efforts of Farmers, with several initiatives this week to support communities impacted this past year.

This year’s Farmers Insurance Open, which takes place at the Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla, California, begins tomorrow (Thursday) and is due to conclude on January 28. Spain’s Jon Rahm (pictured) is the defending champion.

“At Farmers, we’ve seen a thing or two over our proud history and have come to know from our experience with the PGA Tour that our sponsorship of the Farmers Insurance Open makes sense for our customers, our brand and the many charitable organizations that are helped as a result of the tournament,” Farmers chief marketing officer Mike Linton said.

“To paraphrase our own Professor Burke, having seen almost everything available in terms of partnership opportunities, extending our sponsorship of the Farmers Insurance Open for seven more years is just the smart thing to do.”
