FanVision returns to Formula One

The Formula One motor-racing championship has resurrected its partnership with FanVision, an interactive services company that provides at-track content and technology to fans.

The length of the new partnership was not disclosed, but it will result in the creation of F1 Vision to be used via handheld devices by fans at Formula One races.

F1 Vision combines the Formula One race live broadcast and replay highlights, direct audio feeds allowing the user to listen to live driver and team communications, and the grand prix radio broadcast. F1 Vision also taps directly into the Formula One timing system, providing fans with real-time race data and statistics.

The announcement ahead of this weekend’s opening race of the European season in Barcelona, Spain marks FanVision’s return to Formula One after last appearing during the 2012 season.

FanVision has delivered its proprietary handheld technology to fans of North American stock car-racing series Nascar across the United States since 2006, and to NHRA Championship drag racing venues since 2017.

F1 Vision’s content is delivered via FanVision’s dedicated digital transmitters, meaning the devices are not dependent upon venue Wi-Fi.

Andrew Daines, FanVision chief executive, said: “The new suite of products we’ll bring to the series will leverage team communications in ways never before seen in Formula One.”
