ESPN expands boxing coverage with Golden Boy deal

International sports broadcaster ESPN has secured a multi-year rights deal with boxing promoter Golden Boy Promotions.

Although the length of the agreement was not disclosed, it was confirmed that ESPN will show 18 fight cards during the first year of the deal.

Coverage will be available in the US on ESPN2 and the ESPN Deportes Spanish-language channel. ESPN-affiliated networks around the world will also televise bouts to audiences in Australia, Canada, the Caribbean, Latin America and parts of Asia.

The first fight to feature on ESPN under the deal will be from Fantasy Springs Resort in California on March 23. Fighters on the card will be announced in due course.

In addition, ESPN will feature content from the promoter’s Golden Boy Media and Entertainment division across multiple platforms. This programming will include interviews, training features, highlights and archive content.
