Denver Nuggets sign jersey sponsor

NBA basketball franchise the Denver Nuggets has named financial services company Western Union as its first jersey sponsor.

The three-year deal covers the 2017-18 to 2019-20 NBA seasons. Western Union’s branding will feature on the left chest area of the Nuggets’ jerseys as part of the agreement.

Western Union, which is headquartered in Denver, will also serve as a co-presenting sponsor of the team’s 50th anniversary celebrations this year.

The company will benefit from prominent brand exposure at the team’s Pepsi Center arena, as well as features during television and radio broadcasts of games, print advertising, and promotion across digital and social media platforms.

In addition, Western Union will serve as an official sponsor of Major League Soccer team the Colorado Rapids from 2018. Like the Nuggets, the Rapids are part of the Kroenke Sports & Entertainment family.

Western Union will also help develop bilingual resources to better serve the Hispanic community at the Pepsi Center and Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, the Rapids’ home stadium.

In return, the Nuggets will make annual donations to The Western Union Foundation to support its philanthropic activities.

The Nuggets become the 11th NBA franchise to sign a jersey sponsor for the 2017-18 season. The NBA announced in April 2016 that teams would be permitted to agree jersey sponsorship deals as part of a three-year pilot programme spanning the 2017-18 to 2019-20 seasons.
