Sports and entertainment giant Creative Artists Agency has joined forces with CMC Capital Partners, a leading Chinese investor in the sports and entertainment sectors, in a move that will lead to the formation of CAA China.
The two parties said CAA China will be a “world-class” media and entertainment platform, with the partnership involving a minority strategic investment by CMC in CAA. CMC chairman Li Ruigang will join CAA’s board of directors.
Majority-owned by CAA, CAA China will combine the expertise and resources of CAA with the reach and network of CMC in Greater China. The focus of the new entity will range from talent representation, endorsements, and sports, to digital media, music, and original content production.
