Rugby league’s World Club Challenge will return to Australia in 2018 and revert to a one-match format, with National Rugby League (NRL) champion Melbourne Storm to play host to English Super League victor Leeds Rhinos.
Melbourne will become only the third Australian city to host a World Club Challenge event when AAMI Park stages the Storm-Rhinos clash on February 16. Both Brisbane and Sydney have previously staged matches.
Storm and the Rhinos have faced off in the World Club Challenge final on three previous occasions. The Australian team emerged victorious in 2010 and 2013, while the Rhinos won the first meeting in 2008.
