Citrus Bowl signs up new presenting sponsor

US marine and watersports retail store chain Overton’s has agreed a deal to become the new presenting sponsor of the Citrus Bowl US college American football game.

Terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but it was confirmed the deal will begin with the 2018 game, which will now be known as the Citrus Bowl presented by Overton’s.

The 2018 Citrus Bowl marks the 72nd edition of the game and will take place at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida, on January 1. Camping World Holdings, which holds the naming rights to the Floridian venue, is the parent company of Overton’s.

Marcus Lemonis, chairman of Camping World Holdings, said: “The nationwide exposure originating from a region that enjoys both a climate and geography for year-round water sports make this a perfect fit.”

From 2015 until 2017, the game was called the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl, under an existing sponsorship deal with US casual dining restaurant and sports bar franchise Buffalo Wild Wings. Financial services company Capital One served as presenting sponsor from 2003 to 2014.

The Louisiana State University Tigers beat the University of Louisville Cardinals 29-9 in last year’s Citrus Bowl.
