BT TV division undergoes reshuffle, report says

BT’s head of television, Alex Green, is among a number of executives who are leaving the UK telecommunications company as part of a shake-up of its television business, according to the Daily Telegraph newspaper.

Richard Young, the head of business development, and director of content Kate Dean have already left the company. James Lord, the head of commercial for BT Sport has also moved on to become the new head of commercial rights at the England & Wales Cricket Board.

Following the reorganisation, Green’s current role will be split into commercial and content functions, creating a more senior role for BT Sport’s commercial chief and a new senior role dedicated to sports-rights responsibilities.

The reshuffle is being managed by BT TV managing director Delia Bushell as the company’s pay-television broadcaster, BT Sport, prepares to launch coverage of the Uefa Champions League European club football tournament with the 2015-16 season, the report added.

Bushell said that the new structure would bring BT Sport and the rest of BT’s television business divisions closer together to “get us ready for the future and how we want to grow the business”.

A BT spokesperson added that Green had “decided to leave BT in order to pursue new opportunities. Alex will leave in July after completing preparations for the launch of exclusively live Uefa Champions League football on BT Sport.”
