Boston Marathon granted Olympic Channel showcase

The Olympic Channel, the multi-platform global media destination operated by the International Olympic Committee, has broadened its portfolio by securing rights to the 122nd Boston Marathon.

This year’s race in the US city takes place today (Monday) and the Olympic Channel will produce live online coverage starting at 3pm CET.

Coverage will be available in select countries in Europe and Asia, the Middle East and North Africa, and Australia and New Zealand at olympicchannel.com and its mobile apps for Android and iOS devices.

The Boston Marathon is the world’s oldest annual marathon and is part of the World Marathon Majors group of six elite road races.

This year’s elite field features defending champions, Kenyan pair Geoffrey Kirui and Edna Kiplagat. The defending champions in the wheelchair division, Switzerland’s Marcel Hug and Manuela Schar, also return.
