Belgian fans granted access to Goffin matches through Facebook deal

The matches of Belgian tennis star David Goffin during this week’s Open Sud de France tournament in Montpellier will be broadcast live and exclusively in his home nation on social media platform Facebook.

Fans of Goffin (pictured) will be able to follow his progress at the ATP 250 event via the 27-year-old’s official Facebook page.

The initiative has been launched by the Lagardère Sports and Octagon agencies, and Dutch sports drinks manufacturer AA Drinks, an official sponsor of Goffin. AA Drinks will serve as a presenting partner of Goffin’s matches. Octagon markets Goffin’s personality rights and handles the player’s management.

Nikolaus von Doetinchem, senior-vice president of global media at Lagardère Sports, said: “This project highlights our objectives in the field of branded content and underlines the growing impact of athletes as media platforms within the current transformation of the media landscape.”

Goffin is currently seventh in the ATP world rankings.
