BeIN Media Group has acquired exclusive rights to LaLiga, the top division of Spanish football, in a number of “major territories” across Asia, according to the MediaBusinessAsia website.
MediaBusinessAsia said the agreement with LaLiga media rights partner the Mediapro agency is for the 2015-16 to 2017-18 seasons.
Media rights for LaLiga across much of the Asia-Pacific region were previously held by the Fox International Channels broadcast division of media company 21st Century Fox, as part of an 18-market deal with Mediapro.
MediaBusinessAsia said beIN's agreement is part of a fresh effort from the company to enhance its presence and profile in the region.
