Asian Tour introduces live-streaming initiative for events

Golf’s Asian Tour has launched a new streaming initiative that will result in selected tournaments benefiting from live coverage on its website.

The live streaming on www.asiantour.com will be available in markets where there is not a live rights-deal in place with the Asian Tour.

The initiative commenced with the Singapore Open, which got underway earlier today (Thursday) and concludes on Sunday. The tournament is available to stream in Myanmar, Philippines, Vietnam, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Netherlands, Belgium, Latin America and other selected markets that are not already part of Asian Tour Media’s television platform.

Asian Tour chief executive Josh Burack said: “We will obviously respect all of the exclusive TV and digital broadcast deals we already have across the world, so the streaming will be geo-blocked in these markets. For the remaining territories that the Asian Tour is not already telecast, we will stream selected events to expand our viewership even further.”

The Myanmar Open, which takes place from January 26-29, is the next event scheduled for live-streaming coverage.
