Akron takes naming rights to Chivas stadium

Mexican Liga MX football team Club Deportivo Guadalajara has agreed a deal with Akron for the oil and lubricants producer to take on naming rights to its home stadium.

The stadium will now be known as Estadio Akron as part of a 10-year deal.

Financial terms of Akron’s deal with the team, which is more commonly known as Chivas, were not disclosed.

Akron’s branding will also appear on the back of Chivas’ women’s team’s shirts for a year. The company’s logo will appear on the men’s team’s shirts from next year.

The 49,000-seat stadium had been known as Estadio Chivas, and before that Estadio Omnilife.
