Afriquia returns to sponsor WTCR season-opener

Moroccan fuel station operator Afriquia has been unveiled as the title sponsor of the World Touring Car Cup’s (WTCR) season-opening race in Marrakech.

The event will take place in the Moroccan city on April 7-8 and will commence the inaugural season of the WTCR, which has been formed following a licensing agreement between the World Touring Car Championship and TCR series.

Afriquia agreed the deal with series promoter Eurosport Events. Afriquia previously sponsored Morocco’s WTCC event.

As part of the deal, Afriquia will benefit from extensive track-side exposure, with its name to be included in the official event title. It will also receive a range of promotional opportunities such as live national and international television coverage.

The Marrakech event will feature home favourite Mehdi Bennani, who drives for French team Sébastien Loeb Racing.
