Aeroflot wings in for Women’s World Curling Championships

Russian airline Aeroflot has secured the main sponsor berth for the 2015 World Women’s Curling Championship.

The agreement for the event – which takes place in Sapporo, Japan from March 14-22 – was brokered by the World Curling Federation’s exclusive media and marketing partner Infront Sports & Media and supported by Russian sports marketing agency Premium Sport.

Kate Caithness, president of the WCF, said: “We are delighted to welcome Aeroflot, a global leader in the aviation industry, onto the ice. As the popularity of curling continues to grow we are confident that they will see the benefits of investing in our sport. We hope that this is just the start of what could potentially be a longer term relationship between the World Curling Federation and Aeroflot.”

Aeroflot will benefit from prime exposure at the Women’s World Curling Championship, including under-ice and field-of-play advertising. The agreement marks the airline’s first foray into the sport of curling.

Japanese agricultural cooperatives federation Zen-Noh is the title sponsor of the championships.
